No time is enough for the study when it comes to learning, The more time you invest, the more you would learn. But in Sometimes, it is difficult to manage time for study due to some important work, bad health or due to some undesired situations.

Exam preparation

Some people give excuses that I have not got sufficient time, and some like me and you are able to find some strategies which make them able to prepare for their exam in even less than a week and still score higher in the exam.

Look, this post is not going to help you to score 97.36% in the exam however if you follow these suggestions, you will be able to use the best of your capability, and then it is up to you that how much you can score between 75 to 95%.
So, let's start:
  • Don't panic and calm down: This is the most important and first step in an unfavorable situation. If you will panic, In spite of having so many good ideas, you will not be able to work on that to your full capacity.
So, take a few deep breaths and tell yourself that, "IT'S SHOWTIME".Watching some motivational videos may help you as well.
  • Make a study plan as soon as possible: Now, when you are ready to take action, first you should understand your current position. Make a plan a plan accordingly.
Planning of 10 minutes before taking the action can save your time and ambiguity. It will also help you to provide a straight view/path of your action to be taken. Proper planning of study should contain the following things:
  1. divide your remaining days by the number of the chapters in each subject to find require a number of study hours.
  2. Decide how many chapters you have to finish per day in each subject.
  3. Think on paper-Your planning should be on the paper(not in the mind).
Note- Your planning may be according to your remaining time and current situation. Do not make a timetable if you are not already habitual of it. Cause it is difficult to follow.
Just make plans that how much time, how many chapters and when(morning, afternoon, evening or night). That is enough as the timetable. Or you can also make if you are comfortable with it.
  • Select the study material wisely: Now once your planning is done, now you have to select the study material very cleverly cause, you have very little time left and you should not give an extra amount of time on any topic or subject. If you would read all your books, then no doubt you will end up with all messed and no time left for other things.
From my advice, you should follow only two things first. Your notebook and the assignments you get in the class. In case you don't get assignments, you can solve the previous 5 years' papers after studying your notebook. Then if you got extra time you can go through the book for important topics.
  • Make a list of important topics/Important first: Our mind is very conscious to remember important things. Make a list of important topics on a paper for each subject. It will help you to overcome procrastination. You will have a clear picture of what are the things you have to complete in what times.
As soon as you finish studying topic, start ticking/marking them. This will encourage you to finish more and more topics. It will create the same feeling when you complete one level and then want to complete all levels in a video game.
Then once you complete all the important topics, go for the other topics which are less important. Try not to leave a single topic because this is the secret of scoring high in the exam. Examiner always gives some questions which are less important so that mostly student leave that.
  • Start taking action/Utilization of most of your time: Now all the planning has been completed, you have to utilize most of your time. how to utilize whole day?
Stay away from social media for some time. Don't let a thought come to your mind of procrastination. Once you start, you will win half of the battle. After then it will be a piece of cake for you.
  • Study anytime anywhere: As you have to utilize most of your time, studying while travelling or walking can be really helpful to increase your retaining capacity in the exam. You can study by making pdf of your notes, by video lectures on youtube etc.
Note- avoid reading by phone when you are at home. This is only useful where you can not carry your notebook.
  • Saving time: If you have missed some class, then try to study from one of your friend or teacher(if possible). Cause it will save lots of your time and most importantly, you will not need to revise it again.
Also, avoid studying what you have completed from your friend or teacher cause it will create so many confusions which are not good.
  • Make short notes while self-study: When you finish a topic, then try to add some important points in your short notes. It will save your time when you revise it again.
Short notes should not be more than 2 pages for a chapter. You can Make it in separate copy or in the last of your notebook of each subject.
  • Revision at the end of the day: Now, this is also a big problem for most of the students to forget what the read. for that you need to know something:
According to the forgetting curve(memory retention time), we forget around 35% of what we remember in just after 9 to 10 hours.

Studies say that how much you will remember, It depends upon the style of study and the way you gather information. for example:
10% of what we read
20% of what we hear
30% of what we see
50% of what we see and hear
70% of what we discuss with others
80% of what we personally experience
95% or what we teach others

You should revise at the end of the day what you have studied throughout the day. And whenever you get the chance, try to teach some important concepts to one of your friends or discuss. It will ensure you that you will not forget anything even after the exam.
  • Building self-confidence: Now, in spite of having prepared for the exam, it is difficult to perform well without self-confidence. It increases our performance multiple times.
To gain self-confidence, you have to collect some previous years question papers and try solving then as the same way you do in the exam. Set the time for the 3 hours and take a mock test. Take it seriously and analyze your question paper at least for 30 minutes.
Try not to take the mock test just before the exam. Do it when you have at least one or two days left.
